New Brook Farm receives DCR Grant

New Brook Farm (NBF) is excited that Brook Farm has been designated to receive $40,000 through the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Partnership Matching Funds program. Combined with Community Preservation Act funding of $20,000 from the City, these funds give us all something to look forward to in 2021 as New Brook Farm continues to work with DCR toward shared stewardship goals for the historic Brook Farm site. In particular, these monies will be allocated to archeological investigations which are required before any work may be undertaken which might disturb historic resources. In addition, invasive plant species removal will facilitate the archeological investigations. Together these serve as important first steps toward visitor improvements and NBF’s dream of an eventual demonstration garden on the site.
