Join Rachel Goclawski and New Brook Farm personnel for a late spring foraging class.
In late spring, we can find many medicinal herbs, edible flowers and plants, wild mushrooms, and other nutritious wild foods. Come hike, and learn about these seasonal items as well as plants, trees, and mushrooms that can be foraged at other times of the year. At this event, you will learn how to identify the edibles safely, methods of preparation and preservation, nutritional and medicinal value.
Bring a camera and/or notebook so you can document our finds, collection bags (plastic), and a knife or shears.
Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots as the terrain may be uneven or muddy. We will go off the trail, so be prepared for mud, rocks, and possible steep areas.
Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended.
Instructions
Meet at Baker Street motor entrance to the Gardens Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury. Staff will direct you to the designated parking area. Please do not park your vehicle in the cemetery roadway or in front of the cemetery’s administrative offices.
